Laura Gainor is the Founder & CEO of Pickleball in the Sun® and Mahjong in the Sun.
A marketing and communications professional who has worked throughout the pickleball industry since 2019, Laura has helped tell the stories of players, brands, events and destinations as pickleball grew into one of the country's biggest lifestyle movements.
Her work has included partnerships and projects with leading pickleball organizations, brands, resorts and destinations, along with years of contributing to Pickleball Magazine.
In 2026, Laura took what she had learned from building community through pickleball and brought that same energy to another rapidly growing social game: mahjong.
What began with local gatherings in Northeast Florida has quickly grown into weekly events, leagues, tournaments, business collaborations and destination experiences through Mahjong in the Sun.
And she's not doing it alone.
Mahjong in the Sun is powered by an incredible community of players, friends, volunteers, local businesses, partners and fellow mahjong enthusiasts who continue to help welcome new people to the table and bring new ideas to life.

Created by Laura Gainor, Founder & CEO of Pickleball in the Sun®, Mahjong in the Sun grew from a simple idea: the same sense of connection, community and fun that has fueled the incredible growth of pickleball is happening around the mahjong table.
And we want to be a part of it.
Based in Northeast Florida, Mahjong in the Sun creates weekly social play, leagues, tournaments, Mahjong 101 experiences, special events, community partnerships and destination getaways designed to make it easy — and fun for people to get around the table.
Our philosophy is pretty simple:
Pickleball in the morning. Mahjong in the afternoon.
