Mahjong in the Sun + Pickleball in the Sun are heading to Saddlebrook Resort for a weekend where you choose how you want to play.
Join us for Friday night Sunset Mahj, spend Saturday playing pickleball and competing in The Mahjong Marathon, or make a weekend of it and enjoy poolside mahjong, resort amenities, dining and more.
Come for one event or stay for the full getaway. A special Saddlebrook Resort room rate is available for guests who want to make a weekend of it.

Kick off the weekend with Sunset Mahj at Saddlebrook Resort — an evening of mahjong, sunset sips, friendly competition + new friends at GOAT Restaurant + Bar.
Already know how to play? Grab an Open Play ticket and we'll help coordinate tables by experience level.
Mahj-curious? Choose the Mahjong 101 ticket and learn the game with the Mahjong in the Sun team — no experience necessary.
We'll have prizes + raffles throughout the evening, tiles and racks available, and all players receive 15% off food + beverages at GOAT Restaurant + Bar.

This is the signature experience of the weekend — a full day of play, competition + resort life.
Start your morning with optional complimentary pickleball alongside the Pickleball in the Sun + Mahjong in the Sun crew, then head to GOAT Restaurant + Bar for The Saddlebrook Mahjong Getaway Championship.
Every player begins with four scored games before being seeded for another four-game round. After eight games, the Top 4 players advance to the Championship Table for one final showdown.

Join the Mahjong in the Sun team at Saddlebrook Resort for a fun, social introduction to American Mahjong. Whether you've never picked up a tile before or have played a little and want to feel more confident around the table, Mahjong 101 will give you the foundation you need to start playing.
Our team will walk you through the game in a welcoming, hands-on setting — from understanding the tiles and National Mah Jongg League card to Charleston, game play and putting it all together for your first games.
No prior mahjong experience is necessary.

Join Mahjong in the Sun for the signature experience of our Saddlebrook weekend: The Saddlebrook Mahjong Getaway Championship — a full day of mahjong, friendly competition, resort time, prizes + plenty of fun, all leading up to one incredible grand prize:

Come with friends or come solo and settle in for an afternoon of hosted play with the Mahjong in the Sun team. Every player will play 12 games of American Mahjong, with scores tracked throughout the day and plenty to play for until the very last tile.
You don't need to be a tournament player — this is a social competition designed to bring people together for a really fun day of mahjong + resort life.
To kick off the day, players will be assigned to tables based on experience level, so you’ll start the Championship playing alongside others at a similar pace. From there, table assignments will shift throughout the day based on scores as we move through the Championship rounds.
The Championship Format
ROUND 1 | 4 Games
Everyone begins with four scored games of American Mahjong, with scores recorded throughout the round.
ROUND 2 | 4 Games
Players will then be seeded based on their Round 1 scores for another four-game round.
FINAL ROUND | 4 Games
After eight games, the Top 4 players advance to the Championship Table for four final games and the chance to become our Saddlebrook Mahjong Getaway Champion.

Didn't make the Championship Table? You're not done yet!
Everyone else will be reseeded to play four more games amongst fellow players, with scores tracked for a special Final Round prize.
That means everyone plays 12 games — and everyone has something to play for through the final round!
Plus, we'll have additional prizes, raffles + surprises throughout the day.

Because around here, we believe in pickleball in the morning + mahjong in the afternoon.
Championship guests can choose to join the Pickleball in the Sun crew from 8:00–10:00 AM for complimentary social pickleball before we hit the mahjong tables.
Whether you're an experienced pickleball player or just want to get out on the courts and have some fun, it's completely optional and designed to be a social start to the day.
Hospitality suites will be available after pickleball so you can shower, freshen up + get ready for the Championship.
Prefer to skip pickleball? No problem — arrive ready to mahj at 11:30 AM!
Staying for the Weekend?
Make a weekend of it at Saddlebrook Resort!
After the Championship wraps at 5 PM, overnight guests can keep the tiles going with us for Sunset Poolside Mahj.
Grab a drink, enjoy the pool + resort, and settle in for even more mahjong as the sun goes down.
Then we'll do it all over again Sunday morning with optional pickleball + Breakfast Mahj before wrapping up our Saddlebrook weekend.

Who Should Join?
The Saddlebrook Mahjong Getaway Championship is designed for players who already know how to play American Mahjong and can play independently.
You do not need to be a tournament player or an expert. This is a social competition where the goal is to play a lot of mahjong, meet new people, enjoy some friendly competition and experience a day at Saddlebrook Resort.
Come with your mahj crew or come solo — we'll take care of the tables, rotations + competition throughout the day.
