Bams4Ben Social Mahjong Tournament | Hosted by a Mahjong in the Sun Community Member
We’re honored to help spread the word about a meaningful event that is especially close to our Mahjong in the Sun community. One of our fellow Scramblers is hosting the Bams4Ben Social Mahjong Tournament in memory of her son, Ben, benefiting the Ben Johnson Memorial Award & Scholarship.

Friday Mahj Club has been getting PACKED, so here are a few things to know before you come:
🚪 Doors open at NOON — Really Good Beer Stop is not open before 12 PM.
🪑 Tables are first-come, first-served. There is no reserved seating.

Each table at Sunset Mahj Wednesday will keep score throughout the night. Players will complete two matches of four games each, and scores from both matches will be combined for a cumulative total.
The top two players with the highest cumulative scores will each win a Kendra Scott Holiday Collection necklace + earring set, valued at more than $110 per set!
First place will also receive a ticket to our October 18th, Mahj, Sip & Shop event hosted at Kendra Scott Jacksonville.
Second place will receive a ticket to an upcoming Sunset Mahj Wednesday.
To be eligible for the Kendra Scott Night prizes, you must complete two full matches (8 games total).

During this 2.5-hour guided Mahjong 101, we’ll walk you through everything you need to know to get started, from understanding the tiles and NMJL card to the Charleston, building a hand, game play and scoring. You’ll leave ready to keep practicing and join an open-play table!

I Love Mahj - Monthly Online Tournament
One of our favorite days of the month is almost here — the I Love Mahj Monthly Online Tournament!
If you haven’t tried I Love Mahj yet, it’s an online platform where you can practice and play American Mahjong against the computer or virtually with friends.
On September 20, I Love Mahj is hosting its monthly tournament! You’ll have 24 hours to complete 16 games and see how your score ranks against players across the platform.
And, of course, Mahjong in the Sun is making it even more fun for our community!
Play the tournament, then submit your final score to us by texting / emailing Laura or using our online submission form. We’ll create our own Mahjong in the Sun leaderboard so you can see how you rank within our community.
🏆 MONTHLY PRIZE: The Mahjong in the Sun player with the highest score will be crowned our I Love Mahj Monthly Champion and receive the coveted I Love Mahj Champion T-shirt!

Sunset Mahj Wednesdays are for players who already know the basics of American Mahjong and can play independently. You do not need to be an expert or competitive player!
Newer players, social players and experienced players are all welcome, and we’ll do our best to seat players with others at a similar experience level.

To celebrate the start of our 9-week Fall Season, we’re inviting Scramblers from across Jacksonville, Ponte Vedra, St. Augustine and surrounding communities to schedule their first matches of the season at one of our Kickoff Day meetups throughout Northeast Florida!
Registered players can create or join matches at these locations and times on September 14. Come play your first matches, meet fellow Scramblers and kick off the season together!

Sunset Mahj Wednesdays are designed to take the guesswork out of finding people to play with. Reserve your seat, show up and we’ll take care of the rest. We’ll organize players by experience level, host four games throughout the evening and keep track of scores as you play your way onto our monthly Sunset Mahj leaderboard.
Come on your own, bring a friend or bring your whole mahj crew. The goal is to play great games, meet new people and make Wednesday nights something you look forward to every week.
